With a passion for cooking and an innovative approach to modern American cuisine, Chef Stephen delights locals with a HAVEN for extraordinary cuisine. Herman has been a part of the celebrated culinary team since the restaurantís grand opening in 2003, and now brings his unique touch to the HAVEN menu.

Growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee, Stephen would watch in awe as his mother, an exceptional baker, would spend hours in the kitchen.  This sparked Stephenís love for cooking at a young age, and he has never looked back. Inspired by his mother, Herman decided to pursue a culinary career.

While studying for a culinary arts degree at Johnson and Wales University, Stephen worked with renowned Chef Bob Waggoner at the prestigious Charleston Grill. His desire to excel and his devotion to Chef Waggoner's mentoring garnered a special invitation by Chef Waggoner to cook in some of France's finest restaurants.

Upon graduating magna cum laude, Stephen set his sights on the Atlanta culinary scene. Chef Joel Antune recognized his achievements and immediately brought him on board at Joel, one of Atlanta's finest French restaurants.



Stephen's tenure at Joel refined his skills of classic and modern French cooking.

He left this Atlanta fixture to become an integral part of the HAVEN culinary team.  As executive Chef, Stephen presents a seasonal menu of creative and modern American comfort food.
